Buying carbon removal credits – for many people, including some CSOs, this final step in carbon elimination often requires a leap of faith, one that some people are still not willing to make. What are you buying? Where’s the transparency? Is it doing any good? Anna Krotova and I were asked to join the CARBON X Carbon Dioxide Removal podcast to discuss the role of carbon removal in the toolbox of the CSO.
TLDR: This isn’t a silver bullet. You still need to decarbonise your supply chain as much as possible first. And don’t spend all of your efforts on reporting either. But yes, there’s a place for buying carbon removal to offset that last bit of carbon you can’t remove.
